A little help connecting.
Setup, profile compatibility and answers to common questions.
Compatible profiles
The current Mac build supports routed TUN profiles using OpenVPN over UDP or TCP, with certificates and keys embedded in the .ovpn file. It supports certificate authentication, username/password, encrypted private-key passwords and static challenges.
TAP/bridged networks, external certificate files, hardware keys, proxy-auth workflows, SAML/browser sign-in and dynamic challenges are not supported in this version. Profiles that run scripts or load plugins are rejected. Ask your VPN administrator for a compatible profile; do not remove certificate verification to make a profile connect.
Moving from OpenVPN Connect? Follow the Mac migration guide to check compatibility and import your existing profile.
Import and name a connection
Choose Add connection, then select your .ovpn file. Review the server and protocol before importing. Use the connection’s three-dot menu or right-click it and choose Rename connection. Renaming changes the local label, not the server configuration.
macOS asks for permission
Launch Aigoco VPN from Applications. Connect and follow the prompts to enable the Aigoco VPN network extension in System Settings and allow the VPN configuration. A managed Mac may require your organization’s approval. You can cancel setup in the app while permission is pending.
The connection fails
Check that your internet connection works, the profile is current and your credentials are correct. Disconnect any other VPN client using the same profile before trying again. Use Activity to see connection status messages. For server-specific problems, contact the administrator who supplied the profile.
Connected, but a resource won’t open
A connected tunnel does not guarantee that every destination uses it. Check the Network access information in Connection details. Ask your administrator whether the destination and DNS are included in the profile’s routes.
Closing the window and quitting
The red close button hides the window and keeps Aigoco VPN running in the menu bar. The running Dock icon disappears unless you have pinned it. Choose Open Aigoco VPN from the menu bar to return. Choose Quit to leave the app; an active connection prompts you to disconnect and quit.
Appearance and motion
In Settings, choose Light, Dark or System. Connection animation can follow your system’s Reduce Motion preference, remain On or stay Off. Green connected indicators remain visible with motion off.
Remove a profile or uninstall
Disconnect first. Remove an imported connection from the app to delete its stored profile and saved credentials. Quit the app before removing it from Applications. Follow macOS prompts to remove its VPN configuration or extension if requested. Deleting the app alone may leave preferences or Keychain items behind.
Contact support
Email support@aigoco.com with your app version, macOS version, Mac model and a description of the problem. Never send private keys, passwords or unredacted .ovpn files. Remove server names, usernames and IP addresses from screenshots or diagnostics if they are sensitive.
